He is Costa Rican, graduated in 2007 as a Biotechnology Engineer from the Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica and in 2013 as a Master in Ecological Agriculture from the Posgraduate School of CATIE, Costa Rica. Since 2007, he works as a Researcher in CATIE`s Coffee and Cacao Genetic and Agroforestry Breeding Unit, specifically on issues related to cacao genetic breeding. In his work, he carries out planning, monitoring, evaluation and analysis of experimental field trials for the development of cacao varieties with high production and resistance to diseases, and he also coordinates the tasks related to the management of International Cacao Collection at CATIE (IC3). He has served as a speaker at international conferences in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Ecuador, Peru and Dominican Republic and has been a facilitator in training courses for technicians and producers on issues of vegetative reproduction of cacao, genetic breeding, plantation management and diseases control; as well as visiting professor in courses of CATIE`s Master`s and undergraduate programs at the Universidad de Costa Rica.
